Easy 3-Ingredient Oat Milk Espresso Martini
A classic espresso martini totally blew up the cocktail world and solidified itself as a classic cocktail, I think that this is a drink that will stick around a while.
Traditionally an Espresso Martini is made with vodka, espresso, and Kahlúa (Coffee Liqueur). For this version we are switching it up and making it a creamy espresso martini without any dairy by the addition of oat milk AND lessening the alcohol by ditching the coffee liqueur.
I am also trying to make this as easy as possible... so technically speaking I am not even using espresso I am using cold brew concentrate. Why? Because you can pick up a bottle of cold brew concentrate right near a carton of vanilla oat milk and all you need to add then is vodka. It is literally as easy as one, two, three.
Now of course feel free to use espresso instead of cold brew concentrate. I find that the cold brew still does a great job of incapsulating the espresso flavor but without the expensive espresso beans or extra work. Cold brew coffee is also a great option when you don't have an espresso maker at your house. Now if you did want a fresh coffee but have neither cold brew concentrate or an espresso machine I would recommend making a pot of strong coffee in the french press. There really isn't a perfect way just use the version that works best for you.
You can also use coffee liqueur if you want to as well, it is all up to you!
Equipment Needed
- Cocktail shaker
- Coupe glass or martini glass
- Jigger or measuring tools
- Ice cubes
Ingredients
- Cold Brew Concentrate - I think if you are a coffee lover you are going to put a lot of thought into the coffee component of the drink. You can of course make your own with specialty coffee or you can grab a bottle of cold brew at the store. I am a busy person so I grabbed a bottle of unsweetened black cold brew concentrate at the store, which if you are a busy person too I highly recommend.
- Vanilla Oat Milk - Now I tested a few different options for the oat milk including a plain and unsweetened version and I found it wasn't exactly what I was looking for, the texture was there with the smooth and luxurious oat milk so I tried the vanilla flavored oat milk and it made one delicious drink. The addition of the vanilla brought that creamy flavor and sweetness to the drink.
- Vodka - I traditionally use Tito's vodka but use your favorite vodka brand.
- Coffee Beans - For garnish, totally optional.
Instructions
Start by adding 3 ounces of cold brew concentrate to your cocktail shaker.
Pour in 2-3 ounces of vanilla oat milk. I tend to use 3 ounces, it makes it just a little more creamy.
Measure out 2 ounces of vodka and add it to the shaker.
Drop in a large handful of ice cubes to chill and dilute the mixture.
Seal the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 20 seconds, ensuring all ingredients are thoroughly mixed and chilled.
Once shaken, strain the mixture into a chilled coupe glass to remove any ice.
Garnish your Oat Milk Espresso Martini with a few coffee beans for an aromatic touch.
Tips, Tricks and Questions
Creative Variations
Experiment with different flavors of oat milk for unique variations. You can also adjust the amount of vanilla oat milk to suit your desired level of creaminess. Also feel free to add a little sweetener, just a little plain simple syrup or a dash of maple syrup would work well here. Make it a 'Dirty Espresso Martini' and use Chai Infused Vodka instead of plain. For a fun garnish try adding a thin dusting of cocoa powder or cinnamon.
Can I substitute regular milk or other dairy alternatives for oat milk?
Absolutely, while this is an Oat Milk version, other kinds of milk like almond milk can be used.
What type of vodka works best in this cocktail?
I prefer plain vodka but you could bring even more flavor to the drink by using flavored vodka vanilla, chocolate, or whipped cream vodka probably would all be great in this drink.
How can I make this cocktail stronger or milder in caffeine?
You can make your own cold brea at home using a 'half caf' or decaf coffee.
Can I prepare a larger batch of Oat Milk Espresso Martinis in advance for a gathering?
Yep to make 4 drinks at a time use 1 ½ cups cold brew concentrate, 1 ½ cups vanilla oat milk, and 1 cup vodka.
