Hibiscus also known as Jamaica in Mexico and Sorrel in Jamaica, is a well know drink all across the world, especially in the Caribbean and Central America. In Mexico the tea is known as agua de jamaica and served as a hot tea or iced tea.. During Christmas is a popular time of year to make Jamaican Sorrel which is infused with spices and often served with rum. So when you go to buy some dried hibiscus flowers keep in mind you can make some delicious tea and other drinks as well!

Ingredients
- Sugar
- Water
- Dried Hibiscus Flowers - You can find dried hibiscus flowers at a lot of specialty grocery stores or your local grocery store but I tend to buy them online, there are a lot of options. I usually buy the Organic Hibiscus Flowers Affiliate Link, it is sold in a pound size bag which is a lot but it lasts a very long time.

Instructions
Prepare the Syrup:
In a small saucepan, combine the cup of water and cup of sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, whisking continuously until the sugar dissolves.
Infuse with Hibiscus:
Remove the pot from heat once boiling and stir in the dried hibiscus flowers. Allow the mixture to steep for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Strain and Store:
Using a fine mesh strainer Affiliate Link, strain the syrup into a clean jar to remove the hibiscus flowers. Let the syrup cool to room temperature before sealing the jar.
Storage:
Store your homemade hibiscus simple syrup in the refrigerator. It maintains its freshness for 4 to 6 weeks, ready to enhance your drinks whenever needed.

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup dried hibiscus flowers
Instructions
- Combine water and sugar in a small pot. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat whisking as the mixture heats up so the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Once boiling remove the pot from the heat and stir in the dried hibiscus flowers. Let rest for 10 minutes.
- Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the hibiscus flowers out and the hibiscus simple syrup into a clean jar.
- Store the hibiscus simple syrup in a closed jar in the refrigerator. Should keep for 4 to 6 weeks. Great in cocktails, mocktails, and in seltzer.
