The first time I had a drink with strawberry infused tequila I knew I had to make strawberry tequila at home asap. My husband and I were having drinks for date night and I ordered a delicious cocktail that featured strawberry infused tequila that the bar made. It was so good I am pretty sure I whipped up a batch of Strawberry Tequila the next day.
I can honestly say this might be one of my favorite infusions I have ever done, it is so good. It is good enough to drink on it's own over ice but also perfect for making a strawberry margarita or numerous other cocktails that feature tequila.
It is also crazy easy to make only needing two ingredients, strawberries and tequila. The hardest part is giving it time to rest while it infuses!
Equipment Needed
- Jar: A large jar with a tight-fitting lid. Different sizes of a mason jar work great.

Ingredients
- Tequila - 2 cups of your preferred tequila. I personally enjoy using Tres Agave Tequila.
- Strawberries - 1 pound clean, hulled, and sliced.
Instructions
Preparation: Start by hulling and slicing the strawberries. Make sure to remove any stems and leaves.
Combine: Place the sliced strawberries in a large jar and pour the tequila over them, ensuring the strawberries are fully submerged.
Infusion: Cover the jar with a tight-fitting lid and let it rest at room temperature, out of direct sunlight, for 2 to 3 days.
Strain: Use a fine mesh strainer Affiliate Link lined with cheesecloth Affiliate Link to strain out the strawberries over a glass measuring cup or jar, catching all the liquid.
Store: Transfer the infused tequila to a clean jar or bottle to store it in a cool place out of the sunlight.
To Make a Strawberry Infused Tequila Margarita:
You will need:
2 ounces strawberry infused tequila
1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
1 ounce cointreau (or triple sec)
To make:
Add a handful of ice, the strawberry tequila, cointreau, and fresh lime juice into a cocktail shaker.
Shake the cocktail shaker vigorously until it's well-chilled and properly diluted about 10 to 20 seconds.
Strain the margarita into your prepared glass. Garnish with a slice of strawberry or lime wedge and serve.

Taste the tequila after 2 days to see if it has reached your desired flavor intensity. If not, let it infuse for another day. I have found 3 days to be the perfect amount.

When stored properly in a cool dark place the infused tequila should last for up to six months before it starts losing its color and the flavor starts to change.
