Kombucha in Mocktails
Let's address using kombucha in mocktails. Kombucha is not 100% free from alcohol.
Kombucha varieties found in most stores are going to contain trace amount of alcohol, all should be lower than 0.5% alcohol. Kombucha found at craft kombucha breweries and homemade might contain more.
With this knowledge I would like to address that this mocktail will not be for everyone. If you are avoiding any amount of alcohol for any reason this kombucha mocktail is not for you.
For everyone else please stick around you are going to love it!
Ingredients
- Maple Syrup - Make sure you are using 100% pure maple syrup!
- Orange Juice - A great way to get a little boost of vitamin C. While I am a big fan of using fresh squeezed straight from the orange you can also use good quality fresh orange juice, I would avoid using orange juice from concentrate.
- Lime Juice - Use fresh squeezed lime juice straight from the lime, avoid the bottled stuff which will often taste bitter.
- Ginger Kombucha - There are a lot of brands of kombucha and almost all of them have a ginger flavor, some definitely with a stronger ginger presence than others. You will sometimes also find the ginger flavor mixed with other flavors, like lemon, these will work too. I advise you to go with your favorite brand!
- For the Rim - Ground Cinnamon & Granulated Sugar. It can be tempting to often skip the rim on a mocktail and while this certainly is good without it the cinnamon sugar rim elevates this drink to a whole other level.

Instructions
Rim the Glass
- Mix ground cinnamon and sugar on a small plate.
- Rub a lime around the glass edge, leaving juice on the rim.
- Dip the rim of the glass into the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Prepare the Mocktail
- Add maple syrup, orange juice, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice cubes.
- Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds until cold.
Serve and Enjoy
- Pour the shaken mixture into the rimmed, ice-filled glass.
- Top with 3 ounces of ginger kombucha.
- Stir gently and relish the refreshing taste of your Ginger Orange Kombucha Mocktail.
